Clark, Möe Bio
Möe Clark is a storyteller who transcends our physical realm, fusing her unique understanding of performance narrative with traditions of circle singing. With a background in voice, spoken word, and visual arts, this Métis poet creates a lyrical style, steeped in ritual and poetic exploration.
Möe's performance vocabulary often employs a looping pedal to create multi-layered vocal structures of harmonic, resonant and polyrhythmic tones. Using these compositions as a framework for her spoken word poetry, Möe connects the spirit of sound with a drive to share in the continuum of the oral tradition. Her poetic songs resonate with the power to heal, to celebrate spirit and to connect with authentic purpose.
Möe has been practicing Spoken Word poetry and song since 2004. Her first full-length album Circle of She was released in April 2008, in collaboration with Calgary musician Chris Dadge and with support from the Canada Council for the Arts.
National performance highlights include the ’07-’08 Canadian Festival of Spoken Word, the 2007 PEI Confederation Centre Alberta Fusion show, the ’05-’08 Calgary International Spoken Word Festival, the 2008 Montreal Fringe Festival and the inaugural 2008 “Tusarnituk: Beautiful Sound” Aboriginal Words, Music and Images Festival in Montreal.
